Somebody in the opposition side tonight could, if things had of turned out differently, been wearing the colours of Chelsea tonight.
As Chelsea prepare to take-on Roma in what should be a combative encounter, Antonio Conte has admitted that he was interested in signing the Roma midfielder, Radja Nainggolan, with Conte quoted by the news source, The Express, as remarking about the talented 29-year-old midfield enforcer,
“In the past, yes, we tried to buy him.
“But now Nainggolan is Roma`s player and I have great respect for him and for Roma, and also for my players.
“He`s a really good player. For me, one of the best midfielders. But he`s an opponent.”
Nainggolan, instead of taking the plunge and opting to move to the Premier League, instead opted to sign a new contract with Roma.
Chelsea in the aftermath of the above, opted to bring Tiemoue Bakayoko to the club.
Tonight could be the ideal opportunity to compare the two in action and see what each offers and who got the better deal
