First batch of Ballon d’Or 2017 nominees announced
The first batch of nominees for the 2017 Ballon d’Or have been announced.
Neymar headlines the first five names, with the Paris Saint-Germain forward having impressed with Barcelona this year before his controversial summer departure.
Two players from Real Madrid feature, with left-back Marcelo and Luka Modric in contention.
The first five players are rounded off by Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, and the Premier League’s first representative, N’Golo Kante of Chelsea.
France Football are releasing the 30-man list of Ballon d’Or nominees for this year’s award, with the remaining 25 names to be revealed over the course of the day.
The next announcement will be at 11:00, followed by further confirmations at 13:00, 16:50, 17:35 and 18:15.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the current holder of the award, and is likely to battle Lionel Messi for this year’s honour. The Portuguese has won the award four times; the Argentinean has five in his collection.
