Whose Reign Would Rain Them A Deeper Rainbow? By Akinwale Peace

Written by

So good a day as strengths rusts ‘neath the sun,
So bad a day as they grasp a shadow;
So fair unfair since the world had begun-
So bad a day as they grasp a shadow.
….
They laugh of cries ‘neath the stream gliding sun,
And sleep – thinking of their morrow, morrow.
Empty bellies beneath the lake of sun,
But they boat-ebb and watch the merchants flow.
….
They’re voices of the beggars, world begun
on their plaintive throats and thirsty morrow.
Whose hearts would listen to their clamoured run?
Whose reign would rain them a deeper rainbow?
….
So good a day as strengths rusts ‘neath the sun;
Sad complaining voices of beggars grow;
So fair unfair since the world had begun-
So bad a day as they grasp a shadow.
….
Empty bellies beneath the lake of sun,
Their cry spreads on air and water, winds blow,
Sun shine, rain reign, wet land, dry land, they run,
Whose reign would rain them a deeper rainbow?
….
